ARCHIVE > SIA Gallery Residency

In July 2012 I began my 3 week long residency at Sheffield Institute of Arts.

I used the gallery's large mezzanine space to develop my continued interest and fascination with the erotic.

Furniture has always held a strong significance for me; opening a drawer, once filled with another life, now empty, can strike the heart, or make the skin tingle...

After working so closely with small, vessel-like objects in previous photographs, I felt compelled to explore larger, more structural pieces. As a result, the body is, at times, sculptural: moulding or positioning itself in such a way that appears extraordinarily strong, unnatural, awkward.
